The Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince star has just announced that she’s lending her design talents to British fair-trade fashion label People Tree for a spring/summer collection of women’s and men’s apparel and accessories.
But with so many worthwhile organizations out there, what prompted her to connect with the eco-friendly, socially-conscious brand? “I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to help alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with,” she says.
All sales from the line will be donated to the People Tree Foundation, which directly benefits fair-trade farmers and artisans in developing countries. The full collection, which includes everything from organic knitwear to t-shirts, dresses, shorts and jewelry, will hit shelves February 2010 at peopletree.com.
